Enterprises to benefit from new integrated solution
powered by leading-edge, one-stop security technologies
Hong Kong, February 21, 2006 – F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced a unique partnership with CA (NYSE: CA), iASPEC and Securic to improve the security and convenience of remote access to computer networks. Their integrated technology solution combines the proven security of SSL VPN technology and two-factor authentication with the convenience of a single sign-on for users.
The partnership was initiated by F5 as a timely response to customer requests to further secure their SSL VPN remote access with two-factor authentication, while retaining a single sign-on. “Many enterprise customers want both technologies for their SSL VPN. By bringing together the industry leaders, we will surpass customer expectations by providing integrated remote access solutions that are proven, powerful and secure, yet still convenient,” said Ms. Linda Hui, Managing Director of F5 Networks Hong Kong Limited. “”Often, security and convenience are two adverse values that are hard to reconcile. I am glad that we can now combine those two important values in one solution.”
“CA Siteminder offers the complete, scalable and high-performance access control that is required to make XXXX Solution the optimal remote access solution for today's businesses,” said Antonio Cheung, country manager of CA Hong Kong. “With CA Siteminder as an integral part of this solution, customers can more effectively protect their critical computing infrastructure without placing additional demands on their resource-constrained IT organizations.”
“It is annoying and difficult for end users to remember multiple sign-on names and complex passwords,” said Laurence Chan, General Manager of iASPEC Technologies. “The @t.pass two-factor authentication system eliminates this burden by using an end user’s mobile phone to generate a secured, one-time password. End users will welcome the XXXX one-stop solution as an easier way to obtain remote access.”
Andy Patel, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Securic Inc., said the new solution “can improve an organization’s productivity by giving users access to authorized resourcesthrough a procedure that is both instant and convenient.”
By deploying the one-stop solution, enterprises will achieve efficient remote access management while guarding against intrusion or identity theft in a cost-effective manner. Through a SSL VPN device with two-factor authentication, a remote user will be instantly authenticated and authorized to access designated resources with only one sign-on. This will eliminate the need for multiple versions of sign-on procedures, user IDs and passwords, while protecting resources from unauthorized or malicious intruders.
The integrated solution combines well-proven technologies that previously were available as stand-alone solutions: F5's FirePass® SSL VPN appliance, CA’s SiteMinder® Web Access Management, and iASPEC’s @t.PASS two-factor authentication system. These state-of-the-art security technologies are tightly integrated by Securic, a recognized global IT security consulting company.
F5's FirePass® SSL VPN appliance provides secure access to corporate applications and data using a standard web browser. With high applications interoperability, scalability, ease of use, and security, FirePass helps increase the productivity of employees working from home or on the road. Businesses will gain a competitive advantage because they can provide easy – yet secure and controlled – access to applications and data for customers, employees and business partners. With a 30-minute installation screen, IT departments can quickly deploy the remote access solution within their existing network infrastructure.
CA SiteMinder® is a market-leading security and management foundation for enterprise Web applications with a centralized security infrastructure for managing user authentication and access. The open and extensible solution features single sign-on, centralized security policy server, enterprise manageability and federated identity support. SiteMinder enables secure delivery of essential information and applications to employees, partners, suppliers and customers, and scales with growing business needs.
iASPEC’s @t.pass 2-factor authentication system is a new generation of synchronous one-time password technology. With the use of proven cryptographic algorithms and without physically connecting the token, the system utilizes a mobile phone as a container to hold the tokens that calculate the one-time password. With a small set of simple application programming interfaces (API), minimal effort is required for system integration with host applications and/or third-party security managers or single sign-on systems. To minimize logistical overheads associated with token issuance and re-issuance in traditional token solutions, the @t.pass system delivers tokens to a user’s mobile phone automatically through the wireless network, using SMS push technology.
